“ARCTIC OCEAN. Franz Josef Land”
I present to you my fourth book, “The Arctic Ocean. Franz Josef Land” (AST Publishing House, 2026). The hardback book includes 240 pages of 190 high-quality color photographs taken from land, water, and air. It depicts the islands of the archipelago such as Heiss, Champa, Hooker, Rudolf, Northbrook, Bell, Mabel, and Wilczek, as well as iconic places: the northernmost tip of Eurasia, Cape Fligeli; Franz Josef Land’s signature Cape Tegetthoff; the archipelago’s green oasis, Cape Flora; and Tikhaya Bay. In this book, you’ll see glaciers and drifting icebergs, marine life, and the masters of these territories—polar bears—and immerse yourself in the history of the conquest of high latitudes. The chapters cover the discovery and exploration of the archipelago, its geography and climate, geological structure, polar stations and scientific research, and representatives of the Arctic fauna.
